Mountain Music

Traveling through the North Carolina highlands I bought a run down old cabin in foreclosure and moved from way down south up to the mountains. After twenty years away away from the sticks, I was coming home to the Appalachia again. What I enjoyed right away was the rich music heritage. I began recording in area studios and over time got to meet some of more widely known studio players. What a joy working with them all. I so enjoyed every aspect of those experiences because In a smaller way I had done them all myself… Writer, Player, Producer, Engineer, I found it all fascinating. One of the kindest and finest players I had met asked me one day if I would like to record with the house band he worked with. Intimidated by that level of talent I was slow to accept but, eventually did and what a wonderful opportunity that was!

Over the years, getting older, it has become harder to do what I do in many ways. For those reasons and others I decided to bring things in a bit. With technology moving on, I had heard of many new breakthrough in music production that before were more difficult to accomplish. I thought I needed to learn these techniques so that I could continue using the inspiration I was receiving to continue to write and produce what the Lord wanted.

Having started with the Mac at its inception in eighty-four I kew I had the right company. After all, a trillion dollar company ought to be able to make a stable, reliable, remarkable music platform to work with. I called a professional friend in Nashville to get some solid advice on what they were using and the cost required to update. It was expensive but I figured I would get it back and more over time.

At this writing I have been developing those skills for several years. What it has done has saved me substantial money that is now available for travel, fees, players and associate producers I have needed around the world to help me complete the works. Having tried to produced music much earlier in this manner, now it has allowed me to create more of the finished polished work with much better stability and reliability. I miss the more involved studio sessions but as time, health and finances permit I can go back. At this stage I am just so grateful to be alive and able to do what I do. Having returned to traveling and speaking has been a miracle and a major blessing for me…. Thank You Lord!
