When we have finally had enough, and allow ourselves to come to. We begin to see, realize and understand that though our years of addiction we were indeed doing the same thing day after day expecting different results. ( the definition of insanity ) Can we now grasped the fact that we have that addictive trait, wether booze, drugs, sex, food whatever. At this point we have two ways to go. We can accept the fact that we are addict/alcoholic or, we can stubbornly comply with the guidelines of recovery to stay alive. There is a huge difference in these two choices.
With compliance we are still fighting, still holding on to that reservation that someday, someway we will be able to go back to our addiction successfully. While with acceptance, we have surrendered to the fact that we are indeed addict. Here is where our greatest asset arrives to aid us.
It is none other than our checkered past. Those memories that can drive home that nail of belief. Now, through coming to, we understand that over those many years it was always the same for us… addiction. This new accepted belief can move us from compliance to acceptance. Removing that struggle that we have been battling for so many years over our obsession in just a single moment of clarity. The truth has set us free!
