We were speaking last night in a meeting about moving ourselves to a higher plane. I sure needed to, for the way I was living in addiction was low. Everyone I was running with was even lower. As what was said at the meeting, “ Misery loves company. “
So many live that way today. With drugs becoming legal, vape shops on every corner, prevalent no fault divorce, and a bottle of alcohol never more than one hundred yards away its no wonder. On this planet there is a massive population of these unfortunate people. It was the neighborhood where I use to live
Spiritual discernment comes over time as we clear up through sobriety from our past of addiction and wrong doing. We respond positively rather than reacting negatively. As we become willing to seek the Truth by following the steps, the Lord honors that by giving us clarity. The more we honestly seek His truth the more we learn. The more we learn, the better we “see” from a spiritual perspective.
After some time of staying the course, we begin to have a natural aversion to people and places of spiritual darkness. As they say in the big book, the thought or intuition becomes a working part of the mind. For us, it’s a new thing to be sure, foreign almost, but a wonderful natural gift from God if we will actually recognize and utilize it to turn away or take action to prevent spiritual darkness from reentering our lives.
Think about it..
We all came from that place, surrounded by those people with their dark peer pressure to conform to the world.
… but thank God WE have changed!
Now, truly, acceptance of this new found Grace, is our solution to discovering so much more of our blessed new freedom in Christ.
