Refuge

As I drive around our little mountain town. I see the devastation brought on by “Helene.” Many local communities wiped out by the flooding. Trash and random items strangely out of place everywhere you look. Many homes gutted and in need of repair, if they even can be.

Everyone now is helping and giving which is wonderful but, what happens after a few weeks when the news dies down and all the help leaves. Then the real challenge begins. Starting life over. Trying to find security and safety when there wasn’t a whole lot to begin with. Winter’s coming to this area to further add to the problem. I could feel the lower temperatures today.

“The Lord is my refuge”

I believe in that statement however, It comes down to a new level of honesty. Am I seeking His guidance? Am I doing all I can? Am I doing the right things? If the answer to these questions is a heart felt yes, then even though you may feel that your not doing enough, serenity will come, for what else can one honestly do.

Here, we can but trust the Lord to do for us what we cannot yet, we must do everything we can. As our new friend Jack explained to us last night at the meeting, We will find that dramatic change, even though we did not want it, often turns out to be exactly what we needed.

Don’t worry.. Pray. God is in charge.
